So, we absolutely HAD to have a tourist day, and man did we pack it in! Our sweet friends, the Larsons, let us borrow their extra car the entire time we were in Vermont so we could just leave Sunnie parked and get around the amazingly scenic roads in Vermont. After driving Sunnie, the Jetta felt like driving a race car on those winding roads!
We took a day to experience the Ben and Jerry’s factory, stopped by the Cabot store and Lake Champlain Chocolates and sampled cheeses (ALL the cheeses!) and chocolates. We then drove on down Route 100 to Cold Hollow Cider Mill for a cider donut, checked on the Von Trapps at their lodge in Stowe, drove through Smuggler’s notch and explored a cave, had a wine tasting at Boyden Valley Winery, drove back through the notch and down to the Lareau farm in Waitsfield, VT for some original American Flatbread. We even managed to stop at a covered bridge and climb some rocks!
One of the reasons we decided to stay longer was that Posie had her THIRD birthday, and we wanted to be able to spend it with Chris’s mom and make cupcakes to share with friends. We spent the day, on her actual birthday in downtown Burlington with Meemaw, but then Posie skipped her nap and fell asleep before cupcakes and even before dinner! We made her birthday stretch and had our pink and purple ballerina cupcakes the next day with friends.
We met Posie’s birth grandpa Steve, grandma Diana, and great grandma Gigi in Burlington for dinner. It was a special time of catching up, sharing stories and more birthday celebrations for sweet Posie.
Some of the beautiful people and views that we miss every day we are away from the beautiful state of Vermont…
Moving on to Augusta, ME next.
